In 1961, Mr. Odaka Yoshio established the first hotel in Katsuura city. The hotel is set on a tranquil harbor with coastline curving in the shape of a crescent. Being inspired by this special idea, the hotel was named Mikazuki which means crescent in Japanese. The logo of Mikazuki was also born from this: Mikazuki's logo is the perfect combination of the red circle in the Japanese flag and the crescent moon symbol, the meaning of the word "Mikazuki". Although simple but contains a deep meaning, Mikazuki in the heart of the land of the rising sun, one which is imbued with Japanese cultural identity.For many subsequent hotels, the bay is always the preferable place.
In the middle of the 15th century, on a journey to reclaim the southern land by the sea, King Le Thanh Tong halted in Da Nang Bay. Standing in front of the unspoiled nature and lovely serenity, the poem Hai Van Hai Mon Lu was born, in which the king named Da Nang Bay as "Dong Long" (duo dragons). Da Nang bay from above looks like two dragons adorning the moon, Located between Hai Van mountain range and Son Tra peninsula, the coast bends like a crescent shape, along with the blue poplars, which creates a beautiful poetic picture.
In 2017, Mr. Odaka Yoshimune – the Group’s chairman attended an investment promotion conference in Da Nang. Being ovewhelmed by the poetry, tranquility as well as the perfect crescent shape of Da Nang bay, he made his decision of choosing this beautiful city to build Da Nang Mikazuki Japanese Resorts & Spa as it is today. MIKOSHI PALANQUIN - JAPANESE SPIRITUALITY CULTURE IMPRINT AT DA NANG MIKAZUKI
Mikoshi in real life is a sacred religious palanquin in the Shinto faith, mainly make its appearance at many festivals.
Mikoshi is also known as the portable miniature shrine serves as the vehicle to transport deities. During a festival, parishioners carry the mikoshi paraded around local areas and between shrines, the reason is it's believed that while the gods join their journey around the town, the impurity is drived away and good fortune is deliverd.
If you have ever had good chance to experience a mikoshi parade before, you should have been delighted with their boisterous atmosphere while the parishioners shaking, rocking and moving mikoshi from side to side and turning corners at full speed. This is a gesture for amusing the deities, invigorating them and enlivening the land.
Surely you feel very interesting and want to admire once, let come and visit Da Nang Mikazuki, there have an authentic mikoshi from Japan, hand-crafted by Japanese artisans at Nikko Toshogu Shrine. Bringing this cultural masterpiece to Vietnam is also spreading a part of the Japanese cultural quintessence.
