Our Story

In 1961, Mr. Odaka Yoshio established the first hotel in Katsuura city. The hotel is set on a tranquil harbor with coastline curving in the shape of a crescent. Being inspired by this special idea, the hotel was named Mikazuki which means crescent in Japanese. The logo of Mikazuki was also born from this: Mikazuki's logo is the perfect combination of the red circle in the Japanese flag and the crescent moon symbol, the meaning of the word "Mikazuki". Although simple but contains a deep meaning, Mikazuki in the heart of the land of the rising sun, one which is imbued with Japanese cultural identity.For many subsequent hotels, the bay is always the preferable place.

In the middle of the 15th century, on a journey to reclaim the southern land by the sea, King Le Thanh Tong halted in Da Nang Bay. Standing in front of the unspoiled nature and lovely serenity, the poem Hai Van Hai Mon Lu was born, in which the king named Da Nang Bay as "Dong Long" (duo dragons). Da Nang bay from above looks like two dragons adorning the moon, Located between Hai Van mountain range and Son Tra peninsula, the coast bends like a crescent shape, along with the blue poplars, which creates a beautiful poetic picture.

In 2017, Mr. Odaka Yoshimune – the Group’s chairman attended an investment promotion conference in Da Nang. Being ovewhelmed by the poetry, tranquility as well as the perfect crescent shape of Da Nang bay, he made his decision of choosing this beautiful city to build Da Nang Mikazuki Japanese Resorts & Spa as it is today. With the mission of sharing the essence of Japanese culture in Vietnam and the aspiration to create a new tourism destination in Lien Chieu District, Da Nang Mikazuki has been developed with dedication and passion. We hope this destination will become an ideal retreat, offering guests a complete Japanese-inspired experience through accommodation, entertainment, and cultural activities.

Prominently displayed in the lobby of Da Nang Mikazuki, the Taiko Drum symbolizes the friendship and cultural connection between Vietnam and Japan. Adorned with the Mikazuki logo and the national flags of both countries, the drum also features the character 和 representing harmony, unity, and mutual understanding. More than a traditional Japanese musical instrument, the Taiko Drum stands as a distinctive cultural landmark, reflecting the enduring friendship and shared values nurtured between the two nations.

It is believed that the presence of the Mikoshi brings blessings, harmony, and good fortune to the places it passes.

Today, guests can admire an authentic Mikoshi from Japan at Da Nang Mikazuki. Meticulously crafted by artisans from Nikko Toshogu Shrine, this remarkable cultural artifact stands as one of the resort’s distinctive highlights, offering visitors a closer connection to the heritage and traditions of Japan.
